A warm welcome...
Nilla
This is our new girl Nilla, she arrived on July, 10th at 3am with her buddy Pip who has a wonderful forever home up the road. She is such a lovely girl.
Gemma
Joy
Joy came from a shelter in Romania. Nobody would touch her because of the operation she needed for a floating patella in her leg. Gill askedus to help and so we did. Joy went to her foster Jennifer and she´s been to the specialist in Rennes. It´s looking good for her.

May, 2 2023 R.I.P. dear Hattie
Sad day today, we woke up without our sweet Hattie, she passed in her sleep after going down bank very quickly. She had a fused spine which she coped with so well with her monthly injections but developed a cough..after x rays it was shown she had a growth in her throat and water on her lungs.. Bless her, she has given us 14 years of pure love and joy. She will be missed so much. All our love Hattie, sleep well. You have taken our hearts with you. x
December 14, 2022 R.I.P. dear Phoebie

This little girl made all of 17yrs old, she hadn't been feeling right for a little while but took a turn for the worst yesterday bless her.
She will be so missed, love you always phebs. Sleep well.xx
November, 21, 2022 The arrival of 3 new residents
Scooby arrived from North-Macedonia. We heard about Scooby in July. He was found in Volkovo near a road and railway. He was there for 14 days! Injured, unable to use his hindlegs. Kind people gave him water and food but no one stepped forward to help him. So we did. Welcome Scooby. Read his story here
Coco & Rusty also arrived from North-Macedonia. These two friends are really attached to each other. Rusty can't do anything without his friend Coco so we are very happy to welcome both pups.
Welcome Coco & Rusty.
October, 1, 2022 R.I.P. dear Mimi
Today was a very sad day for us. Mimi went to play with the angels. She had an aggressive tumour that got the better of her. Mimi was almost 18 years old and spent the last six years of her life with us at the Raggie Dog Retreat. She came from a Romanian shelter... up to her belly in mud so the catchers wouldn´t find her.
August, 19 2022 R.I.P. Elsie
It's a sad day for us today, we had to let our beautiful girl Elsie go and be with her friends...She was amazingly sweet, loved her routine and her special chair. Elsie has a series of fits that she never recovered properly from , we tried everything but it was her time to fly. We were honoured to share 4 years with her and loved every day. You will be very missed sweetheart. Sleep well. x
August, 11 2022 arrival of Nelly
This is our new member of the Raggies family, her name is now Nelly, she arrived on August 11, after an amazing young lady Mylène from Des truffes et des Moustaches Association drove 6 hours to get her to us.
The day after, she went to see our wonderful vet. She was as good as gold. We have a few problems due to her accident but TLC and time will go a long way. Sending a Big Hello and love from Nelly.

May, 2 2022 Arrival of Lilibet
On Monday May, 2 2022 Lilibet arrived at Raggie Dog Retreat. Her journey started on Saturday, April 30 2022. She is from North-Macedonia.
Lillibet, had a horrible tumour which was successfully removed but it left her incontintent and after a year small tumours appear again. This made it difficult for the rescue to find her a home.
Lilibet was named by the late Lynne Cameron, a dear friend to both the rescue and Hanna Brenton.
Watch her journey from Calais to the Raggie Dog Retreat here.
April, 11 2022 R.I.P. Toby
Sad news today, we lost our Toby. He was very poorly and it all got too much for him.
He started life in a gypsy camp, after a fire ended up living in doorways on the street for 10 years, he had heartworm , gastro problems and a bad liver. He got the all clear for heartworm last year, it was like all his birthdays at once...His lungs remained damaged and despite trying everything it got the better of him...
He was having a cuddle and a brush , I knew something was wrong when he didn't want his treat. He put his paws and head over my leg and left to join Lynne, she will look after him from now on. He was her Pup , we laughed so much when we saw the size of him...he had a personality and a heart to match...You will always be loved Toby.xx
July, 15 2021 R.I.P Clem
We really didn't want to put another sad post on here but it's just how it happens...
Today we said goodbye to a amazingly sweet girl through and through..she was the kindest pup you could ever wish to meet..Our Clem..
First found living under a hedge in a bad way by Kate, hiding in the wardrobe the first day she arrived here and giving us kittens when we couldnt find her..to getting over excited when Steve came home from work getting all her legs in a muddle like a crazy puppy..she was a happy girl and lived every day the way she wanted. Golly did she love that sofa..she would stand on anyone to get into her comfy spot..resting her head on a pillow.
We will love you forever Clem you have been such special girl in the Raggie family. RIP our golden angel.xxx
July, 10 2021: R.I.P little Harry
A couple of days ago Harry took a massive dip in his health. He spent a night away getting treatment and cuddles from everyone at the vets. Yesterday he came home. He was very weak but still had that sparkle of love in his eyes. At 3am this morning he passed away..he was in his special place on the sofa surrounded by all the pups and getting lots of cuddles..His little body has been through so much, he was just too weak to carry on. The days he was good he had such fun but he was an angel with lots of problems. He had no problem touching the hearts and souls of so many of us, he was a very special little man. Sending love and hugs to you all. Thank you for your kindness and support for Harry. He knew he was loved..if we could have given him the moon and stars we would have. RIP little man.
June, 20 2021 Cleo (Bazika) arrived from Egypt.
Our new family member Cleo arrived last night.
Huge thank you to Rofia in Egypt for sending her. Linda for her fundraising and everyone who donated to make this happen . And Elmarie and Steve for collecting her and bringing her by road to home.
She is very nervous and needs some time to adjust and get used to everything so she will be relaxing with treats and cuddles today.
As soon as she is measured the wonderful Chrissy's hope are going to help with some wheels. You are all so very kind and very much appriciated. Thank you for helping change a pups life.
Harry has had a leg amputation
Harry just a puppy and gone through so much suffer..
What this poor pup has gone through in such a short life is beyond words.
Taken from the pound with such injuries to his paws and in such a state, thin, full of worms and generally uncared for by whoever owned him previously and the lack of care by the pound and their vet, he was lucky enough to be taken by Association Galia and found a place with us.
But that was only the start… the flesh on his paw was rotting and the bone diseased, due to lack of care,
We took him to the vet immediately and treatment started... but just to late to save the paw. It was falling apart, so the decision was made to amputate the paw and in time to give him a prosthetic limb,
Sadly the rotting flesh had done it’s damage and although the amputation was hoped to have stopped it, no, the flesh continued to rot and this week he had to have a full leg amputation but on top of that the x-rays also revealed he had a oesophageal stricture and can only have liquid foods for the rest of his life
It is heart breaking that a baby of only 8 months should have suffered so much
We will do everything possible for his recovery and he will have wheels for the interim and work will be done with the other paw to correct its position and then we hope in our hearts he will become a tripod dog
As for the food problem he will have a ‘Bailey’s chair’ made by Steve, so he can eat in the upright position as to allow the liquid food to slip past the stricture.
So we are asking if you can spare a few euro to help us with his ongoing treatment costs and his special food costs.

Help us to bring Bakiza home
Update 24 May 2021: Succeeded... Bakiza is coming to us. Thank you all for your kind donations. We keep you updated!
Bakiza is a street dog in Egypt who was surviving on the streets
until she was hit by a car. Rescued by Rofia and Chance Animal
Rescue she was taken to the vets. Sadly X-rays revealed two
damaged vertebrae and there isn’t the specialist care available
that may possibly have enabled her to walk again. This was 18
months ago and she has been living in a small area of the shelter,
which is home to 300 dogs.......not a place for a paralysed dog and
Bakiza is starting to shut down as she is depressed.
Raggie Dogs in France have offered Bakiza a home at the Retreat but we need to raise funds for her preparation and flight to Paris.
The costs are:
1- flight share approx $150
2- rabies test from German lab required approx ( $160 )
3- create $115
4- flight ticket ($175 to $250 ) depend on her weight with crate
Total $675 or 550€
Please help us give Bakiza the chance of a better life.

May 12 2021... Welcome to our new family member.
Welcome
On a bright sunny Wednesday Sue & Alain brought our new family member... a youngster from a shelter in France. We think he has been hit on the back. The messages to his back paws are not there and they don't flip forward. He can stand but only on his nuckles. More news about him after our vets have seen him...
